The deluxe PORTO CARRAS complex is situated on the west coast of Sithonia, the central prong of the Chalkidiki peninsula in MACEDONIA. It is approximately 65 miles (75 minutes by car) from Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city, with its own commercial harbor and International airport. The nearest village is Neos Marmaras, which has a great variety of shops, travel agencies, car and bicycle rentals and two banks.

Steeped in history, Chalkidiki has much to offer the tourist. The town of Thessaloniki is rich in treasures, with churches, mosaics and frescoes of the Byzantine period. The town is also an excellent shopping center. Poligiros, the provincial capital, boasts many fine examples of traditional architecture and its museum is well worth a visit. The discovery of the tomb of King Philip of Macedonia (the father of Alexander the Great) at Vergina, has created interest in the area. For those priviledged to visit the Byzantine monasteries and see the treasures, Mount Athos provides an incomparable experience.

While on a tour in Sithonia you can admire endless majestic landscapes, picturesque little harbors, wonderful golden beaches, secluded bays next to olive plantations, lovely meadows and deep green forests, peaceful fishers' villages and also the amazing architecture of houses and churches. Only in Halkidiki you can admire glorious beaches with the perfect combination of green and blue as when the wind gently blows the pine trees meet the waves. Surely, when you are in Sithonia you will realize that each place you meet is so different, so unique and seductive. All the areas such as Vatopedi, Metamorphossi, Nikiti, Agios Nikolaos, Pirgadikia, Sarti, Neos Marmaras, Vourvourou, Ormos Panagias and Sikia will remain deep in your memories. A tour around these villages will fill you with new experiences and amazing images from the folk architecture of the houses in Ormylia, the wonderful piney beaches of Nikiti and Metamorphossi, the narrow alleys and the flowery squares in Agios Nikolaos and the insular features of Pyrgadikia, Vourvourou and Ormos Panagias. Among the many sights one can admire in Sithonia is the ancient town, the castle and the Temple of Agios Athanasios in Toroni, the windmills in Sikia and the 16th century temple in Nikiti. In Sithonia, as in the entire Halkidiki, the locals are famous for their warm nature and their hospitality, their smiling faces and the perfect service, elements found in every genuine Greek. This friendly atmosphere and the most peaceful and celestial place in Greece, guarantee the most relaxed and unforgettable vacation.
